Learn Spanish in Valencia by hanging out in Benimaclet
To give a conversation a bit more natural sound, you need to spend some time in a Spanish speaking country. How? Hang out in Benimaclet and learn Spanish in Valencia at AIP Languages, the closest Spanish school in Valencia to this awesome neighbourhood!
Benimaclet, you say? What is it? Do you eat that, is it food? Is it a music band? Is it an African tribe? Why is everyone talking about it? What’s so special about it?
Benimaclet is a hip student neighbourhood in Valencia located near two Universities, making it the “it” place for students to rent a flat. Our school follows that trend and most of our school’s apartments are located in this neighbourhood, as well as our school.
(A tip: Valencians never throw parties at home! They always meet up in a cheap bar to start the night. And, even if clubbing is your kind of thing, you can always start the night in Benimaclet and when the time comes, hit the clubs.)
Learn Spanish in Valencia and enjoy beers and tapas tours…
It’s about time we recommend you the best places to go to. In this ultimate guide to Benimaclet bars we’ll offer the best bars for every style.
Clubs are all the same, wherever you go. Discover something new, enjoy the typical student night out in Valencia: bar-hopping! But before you go out, make sure to have read our guide on how to survive partying in Valencia
First things first, you need to know about cheap food and even cheaper beer in Valencia!
Quinto & tapa – is a place where all the students go. The bartenders are friendly and the prices are even friendlier! A quinto (0,2l beer) and a tapa will cost you only €1,5! Have a look at their website. http://www.quintoytapa.es/
100 montaditos – http://spain.100montaditos.com/ is also a very popular student place. On Mondays, there’s an offer: with every beer mug (€2), they give you one montadito for free. Montadito is a typical Spanish food, it’s a tapa-sized sandwich. And, at 100 montaditos they have 100 types of montaditos! Check out their latest offers: http://spain.100montaditos.com/promociones
Bar de los montaditos gratis – https://www.facebook.com/barmontaditosgratis is a similar place to 100 montaditos. They have their offer on Tuesdays: One quinto and a tapa only €1!
Make sure to always check out and compare the offers, they might change, there might be some new ones
You are in a different country and you want to flirt with a different lifestyle? Or you just want to get to know the alternative subculture of a different country? Here are some of our suggestions:
Glop – https://www.facebook.com/pages/Glop/112338142218682 it’s one of the most alternative places in the neighbourhood, if not in whole Valencia. At this place you can try cazalla, one of the typical drinks in Valencia. There are also non-alcoholic ways to have fun here: billiard, table football, board games… A curious thing about this place: The prices are a bit too high for an alternative bar. Our recommendation is to start the night in the cheaper bars we mention here and then come here after midnight and hang out in front of the bar. (Of course, if that’s your cup of tea.)
Swan – https://www.facebook.com/swanclub you like to dance but you are not a fan of big clubs, pop-house music and paying just to enter? This is a tiny dance club specialised in the music of the 60’s: garage, soul, funk, beat, r’n’b…
Tulsa – https://www.facebook.com/tulsacafe is a twin place of Swan. The same kind of music, the same kind of people, but here people don’t dance as much as they do in Swan.
You speak Spanish all the time and you feel like your head is about to explode? Even though we encourage speaking Spanish all the time, you’re allowed to have a time off.
La ola fresca – http://laolafresca.com/it’s a typical English place where you can enjoy your tea and cake, enjoy the frequent acoustic gigs, take part in cooking lessons, enjoy brunch on Sunday and have a chat with a lovely, bubbly owner of the place, English chica Helen.
London pub – http://www.londonvalencia.com/ you want to try a proper English beer in a proper English pub? Here’s where you have to go! A super-friendly owner lived in England for some years and after returning to Spain, he decided to have a piece of England with him. Once a week, AIP language exchange takes place at the pub, so we are sure you’ll get hooked on it, sooner or later. It’s inevitable!
Chill out zone
You want to go out, but you don’t want to stay up until the sunrise? Or you want to go and chill and chat with your friends in a relaxed atmosphere? Here’s where you can go:
Chico Ostra – http://www.chicoostra.com/ a vintage place where you can enjoy herbal tea, coffee or good beer and wine. One of the most unique places in whole Valencia. Ideal to go and have a chat with your friends while exploring their offer of second hand books (starting from €0,5) and clothes (starting from €1). Go try carajillo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carajillo) with bailey’s!
Café Cronopio – https://www.facebook.com/CafeCronopio this place softly screams: Jazz! Blues! This place offers frequent gigs of the bands that give goose bumps. This place is perfect for a slow night out during the week!
Kaf café – http://kafcafe.wordpress.com/ This bar with a cool name organises open mike night every Tuesday. You like yet undiscovered singer-songwriters? Come discover them! Not only can you hear the new ones, you can also see the already known Valencian bands.
And what now?
And once you get tired of going to these places, you can always have a look at Benimaclet’s monthly guide of events. Yes, right, Benimaclet is a neighbourhood so full of events that it has to have its own guide! Don’t you just love it?
