Valencia doesn’t mean just sun and beaches
In addition Valencia is a very green city. A good alternative to the beach is the river bed of the River Turia with its beautiful gardens, where you can do bicycle tours, take a walk, or just drink a coffee or a beer and enjoy the sun. It is a typical and popular meeting point especially in summer when the weather is fine.
Talking about coffee and beer it’s essential to mention the most typical beverages of Valencia: Agua de Valencia and Horchata.
Come to the historic city centre of Valencia and taste an authentic Horchata de Chufa with some Fortons and enjoy the atmosphere of the district El Carmen.
A good place to taste the Agua de Valencia (and of course it’s not the tap water) is in the district Ruzafa where you will find a lot of cool bars and pubs who serve this drink consisting of orange juice, sparkling wine, vodka and gin.
In summer the streets are full of life. There are a lot of sun terraces and pubs which invites you to stay while chatting and having a drink with some friends until late at night.
Also you can enjoy the best parties in the Marina Real Juan Carlos I, located in the port of Valencia. Here you will find a lot of incredible bars and clubs. Enjoy the night next to the see until the sunrise!
The surroundings of Valencia offer you more possibilities to make some daytrips. Hiking, a boat tour or even more beaches…you can select to you liking!
One of the examples is the Natural Park of Albufera, which is situated in the south of Valencia. Here you can discover a beautiful natural landscape with a freshwater lake. Make a boat tour and enjoy the silence and beauty of the nature.
Another option would be to spend a day with hiking and sightseeing for example in Xàtiva, where you can find historical monuments and a castle situated in the mountains.
If you are in the mood for more beaches, our school, AIP Language Institute offers frequently day trips to the villages of Peñiscola and Sagunto, in the north of Valencia and also to Calpe and Altea which are situated in the north of the Costa Blanc. Calpe impresses with its beautiful beaches and bays and also with the Natural Park known as el Peñon de Ifach, which you can ascend and enjoy some incredible views! Altea, with its little medieval streets and wonderful lookout points, represents one of the most emblematic municipalities of the Valencian Community.
