Valencia – the ideal destination to learn Spanish with school groups

More and more schools of all over the world offer Spanish as a foreign language as a part of their study plans. Therefore, there are also more and more teachers of Spanish who plan language stays in Spain with their students.

It is well known that Spain is a world referent in the tourism sector, and that it offers a wide variety of resources to visitors. In the last years, studies conducted by the Cervantes Institute and other institutions consider the Spanish language a growing tourism resource: first, due to the high number of people who use it as their first language; second, because of the increasing number of students who choose Spanish as a foreign language; and, last but not least, it is the mean factor for the idiomatic tourism, already stablished in Spain.

Language stays for school groups usually consist of a combination of an intensive Spanish course, accommodation, and complementary activities. In this sense, the city of Valencia, an unbeatable destination for international students, is positioning itself as one of the most demanded destinations in this type of stay. Its numerous and diverse tourist resources are the perfect complement for linguistic stays, since they are not only about studying the language, but also about making visits, excursions and all kinds of complementary activities to achieve a total immersion in the language and the culture. In addition, its size, topography, climate and other characteristics make it the ideal city for school groups.

Regardless of the time of year in which you stay in Valencia, walks through the historic centre or the port, or a visit to the City of Arts and Sciences, are almost obligatory, as well as a visit to one, or several of its numerous museums. In particular, those related to its popular festivals, the Fallas, or the Corpus Christi, can function as the initiator or common theme of various activities, both inside and outside the classroom of Spanish as a foreign language. In summer, a walk along the beach and a swim in the sea are essential, especially for students from cold countries. And if a weekend coincides during the stay, the best thing to do is to go on an excursion to one of the towns near the city or the beautiful Albufera. Without forgetting the possibility of tasting, and even preparing, a delicious Valencian paella.
